Breast augmentation
Redefining with harmony and balance
Breast augmentation surgery
Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery worldwide and one of the most satisfying for patients. At HC Aesthetic we always approach it considering the particular case of each patient, understanding that each woman has a different motivation: some wish to improve their body proportion, others wish to recover the volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss, and others wish to correct an obvious asymmetry.
Beyond volume, our priority is to achieve a natural-looking breast in harmony with the rest of the body, always maintaining maximum safety and a stable long-term result.
Breast augmentation is indicated in various cases in which the volume, shape or symmetry of the breasts have never developed or have changed over time.
A surgery designed for you
In the first visit (free of charge) we dedicate the necessary time to understand your case in depth; evaluating not only the anatomy, but also your expectations, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve.
Medical history and expectations
Understanding your state of health, your habits and what you want to achieve.
Physical examination
Accurate measurements, analysis of chest shape, skin quality and tissue coverage.
Choosing the ideal implant
In the vast majority of cases, we use ergonomic implants because of their aesthetic advantages and biocompatibility.
Ergonomic implants
Our ergonomic implants combine the advantages of round and anatomical implants thanks to their cohesive gel.
Standing result
They achieve a natural slope and an anatomical silhouette, while maintaining a harmonious and proportionate appearance.
Lying down result
They provide roundness and fullness in the upper pole, creating a more defined and attractive cleavage.
High biocompatibility
They reduce the risk of capsular contracture and guarantee a feel very similar to that of natural breast tissue.

Placement of the breast implant
The selection of the plane is key to the final result and is decided according to the characteristics of each patient:
-
- Pre-pectoral plane: recommended when there is sufficient tissue and fat to cover the implant. It avoids muscle manipulation, facilitates faster recovery and reduces postoperative pain.
- Dual plane: indicated for patients with little coverage in the upper pole or who seek a more noticeable augmentation, with larger volume implants. It combines partial placement under the pectoral muscle and subglandular placement in the lower part, which provides a more natural appearance and reduces the risk of implant visibility (rippling).
What to expect after breast augmentation surgery
Everything you need to know about your recovery, the evolution of the result and possible considerations.
-
- Hospitalisation: hospitalisation is usually not required, although some patients prefer to spend the first night in hospital.
- No drains.
- Discomfort: managed with standard oral painkillers. A feeling of tightness is normal for the first few days.
- Return to work: between 3 to 14 days, depending on the type of activity.
- Exercise: avoid intense physical exertion for 4 to 6 weeks.
- Postoperative bra: continuous wear during the first month.
- Regular check-ups to ensure adequate evolution.
-
- Results are visible immediately, although the definitive shape is visible after 3 to 6 months.
- The implant gradually ‘settles’ and the oedema disappears.
- High durability, although revisions or replacement may be required over the years.
Although rare, it is important to know that the following may occur after the operation:
-
- Haematomas and seromas.
- Temporary alterations in sensitivity.
- Capsular contracture.
- Asymmetry or displacement of the implant.
- Need for additional surgery in the long term.
Other types of breast augmentation surgery
In addition to augmentation with implants, there are other options that may be suitable depending on the characteristics and objectives of each patient.
Breast augmentation with your own fat is a technique in which fat is extracted from areas where there is an excess (abdomen, flanks, thighs, saddlebags, etc.) by means of gentle liposuction. This fat is then processed and injected into the breast in order to increase its volume and improve its shape.
It is an ideal option for patients who:
-
- Want a moderate augmentation (usually up to one cup size).
- Prefer to avoid the use of implants.
- Wish to correct small asymmetries or the after-effects of previous surgeries.
- Seek to improve the appearance of their cleavage or add fullness to specific areas of the breast.
In addition, when fat is extracted for lipofilling, areas that are usually the reason for aesthetic consultations (abdomen, waist, hips, thighs) are simultaneously sculpted. This achieves a double benefit: body contouring and natural breast augmentation.
As for recovery, it is usually quick and well tolerated. It is common to experience mild discomfort both in the donor areas and in the breasts, compatible with returning to work within a few days. The use of a compression garment in the liposuctioned areas is recommended for 3 to 4 weeks to optimise the result and favour the evolution of the tissue.
Advantages
- Natural result in both look and feel.
- No risk of capsular rupture or contracture.
- Improvement of the body contour thanks to the associated liposuction.
- Possibility of repeating the procedure.
Limitations
- Limited augmentation: not suitable for patients seeking large volume.
- A portion of the fat grafted (20-40%) is reabsorbed in the first few months.
- It requires the patient to have an adequate amount of fat for harvesting.
Advantages
- Additional coverage over the implant, making it less visible or palpable.
- Smoother and more natural cleavage.
- Body contouring thanks to the associated liposuction.
Limitations
- Longer and somewhat more complex surgery than implant-only augmentation.
- Partial reabsorption of the injected fat.
Hybrid breast augmentation (Implants + Fat)
Hybrid augmentation combines the placement of implants with autologous fat grafts. This technique makes it possible to benefit from the best of both approaches:
-
- The implant provides volume, projection and durability.
- The fat softens edges, improves the integration with the chest and provides a more natural feel.
This type of surgery is recommended in the following cases:
-
- Very thin patients with insufficient breast tissue coverage.
- Cases in which a fuller and more natural décolletage is sought.
- Correction of irregularities or asymmetries after previous surgeries.
- Augmentations with large implants where an artificial appearance is to be avoided.
Recovery is very similar to that of augmentation with implants, although there may be some swelling in the fat donor areas. During this period, it is recommended to wear a post-operative bra and a compression garment in the liposuctioned areas.

Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation surgery
We answer the most common questions we are asked during consultations to help you resolve your doubts.
Modern implants are designed to be highly durable, featuring high-resistance materials and cohesive gel. There is no fixed ‘expiry date’, but it is advisable to have a clinical and imaging check-up from time to time to detect any changes early.
Replacement is only considered if there are complications (rupture, capsular contracture, displacement) or if the patient wishes to modify the volume or shape of the implant.
In breast augmentation surgery, we aim for the scars to be as inconspicuous as possible. The most common locations are:
-
- Inframammary fold: hidden in the natural crease beneath the breast.
- Periareolar: disguised in the colour transition between the skin and the areola.
- Axillary: hidden in the natural line of the armpit (less frequent).
Initially, the scar has a pinker or slightly swollen appearance, but over the months it lightens and blends in with the surrounding skin tone. The maturing process usually takes between 6 and 12 months.
In addition, we provide dedicated scar care from the very beginning:
-
- Meticulous surgical closure to reduce tension on the skin.
- Silicone dressings and specific creams to optimise the healing process.
- Recommendations on strict photoprotection during the first year.
In the vast majority of patients, the scars become practically imperceptible and do not represent a significant aesthetic limitation.
In the great majority of cases, yes, as the gland is not altered.
However, if the surgery is combined with other techniques such as mastopexy or breast reduction, the capacity for breastfeeding may be more compromised and must be assessed individually.
