The 6 best aesthetic medicine treatments for the summer months

Summer is an ideal time to refresh our appearance and feel more confident about our bodies.

Aesthetic medicine offers several options to improve our skin and figure, especially in the warmer months. Here are six of the best aesthetic medicine treatments for the summer.

1. Deep skin Moisturisation with Hyaluronic Acid

The sun and heat can dehydrate the skin, leaving it dull and lifeless. Deep hydration treatments with hyaluronic acid are an excellent option to combat this problem. This treatment consists of microinjections of hyaluronic acid, a substance that retains water and helps to keep the skin hydrated and radiant. It is ideal for recovering the luminosity and elasticity of the skin, especially after sun exposure.

2. Facial Mesotherapy

Facial mesotherapy is another popular summer treatment. This procedure consists of the application of microinjections of vitamins, minerals and amino acids directly into the skin. These nutrients revitalise the skin, improve its tone and texture, and fight signs of ageing. In addition, mesotherapy can help reduce sun spots and improve the overall appearance of the face.

3. Non-Fractional Facial Radiofrequency

Non-fractional facial radiofrequency is a technique that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. This treatment helps to tighten the skin, reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture and tone without causing damage to the surface. It is an excellent choice for those seeking firmer, more youthful skin with no downtime.

4. Light Chemical Peel

A light chemical peel can be very beneficial in summer to keep skin fresh and blemish-free. This treatment exfoliates the surface layers of the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting cell regeneration. Light peels, such as glycolic acid or lactic acid peels, are safe for summer and help maintain a clear, smooth complexion, improving the appearance of sun spots and small wrinkles.

5. Exosome treatment

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that play a crucial role in cell communication and tissue regeneration. Exosome treatments involve topical application or injections of stem cell-derived exosomes to improve the health and appearance of the skin. This treatment can reduce inflammation, promote cell repair and rejuvenate the skin, providing a fresher, more youthful appearance.

6. Poly-LD-Lactic Acid Treatment

Poly-LD-Lactic acid is a biodegradable polymer that is used to stimulate collagen production in the skin. This is injected into specific areas to improve the firmness and elasticity of the skin, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Unlike other fillers, poly-LD-lactic acid acts gradually, providing natural and long-lasting results. It is ideal for those seeking an effective and discreet solution for facial rejuvenation.

Conclusion

Aesthetic medicine treatments can help you maintain glowing skin and a fit body during the summer. However, it is absolutely essential to consult a professional before undergoing any procedure to ensure that it is suitable for your specific needs and conditions. With the right treatment, you can enjoy the summer feeling and looking better than ever.

10 tips on how to take care of your face after ‘beauty injections’

Taking proper care of the face after injections is important to avoid and prevent possible side effects and to have a faster recovery.

In this article we will mention all the subtleties of the treatment at home and the necessary post ‘beauty injections or intradermal fillers’ care

It may seem logical, but this is not always the case. After the treatment, many patients leave the aesthetic medical practice and forget to follow the facial care routine at home, without even realising the negative consequences of doing so. We must emphasise that the period after the procedure is no less important than the procedure itself.

For this reason, here are 10 tips that will help us to achieve skin regeneration and preserve the results for as long as possible, avoiding the appearance of side effects or complications.

After the injections, you should wash your face exclusively with drinking, mineral or boiled water and after that, use chlorhexidine solutions. This routine should be followed for 3 days, without omissions.

    2

Furthermore, it is important to use products that have antiseptic and antibacterial properties. This ensures that the pathogenic flora is kept at bay. For example, you could use Traumeel®, which should be applied two or three times a day. With regard to the lips, in addition, it is also recommended to use a gel or cream with an antibacterial and antiviral component 3-4 times a day for a week.

    3

Before going outdoors, we must protect the face with a cream with SPF 50+, and nevertheless, it is not advisable to sunbathe directly without a physical barrier for the following 7 days after the injections. It is also strictly forbidden to expose yourself to active heat (bath, sauna, spa, solarium, etc.) for 7-10 days.

    4

We should also mention that the day after the treatments, the use of decorative cosmetics such as make-up and medication is not recommended, except for those indicated by your doctor.

    5

After the treatment, it is necessary to completely limit mimic activity in the area where the injection was given, except in the case of treatment with the neuromodulator, where a series of exercises is recommended in the following two hours.

    6

Facial massages and microcurrent devices should also be eliminated from the daily routine, as they may cause accelerated biodegradation of the drug.

    7

For one thing, sleeping on your stomach is harmful, so you should try to sleep in such a way that your face is not in contact with the pillow. This is a rule to follow throughout life, especially after undergoing ‘beauty injections’.

    8

In the case of treatments with hyaluronic acid, you should avoid any alcohol intake two days before and 2 days after the procedure.

    9

Do not use ice, cold compresses or masks with cooling effect for 24 hours after the treatment.

    10

Likewise, we do not recommend the practice of sport or physical activity during the 7-10 days following the treatment.

      Lip fillers and Russian lips

Lip treatment is still in fashion, although, of all the facial structures, aesthetically the lips vary the most in volume and shape.

There are many lip types and even more preferences

In Marbella, a luxurious and flamboyant city, Russian lips have become popular in the field of general aesthetic medicine, and more specifically in the field of lip augmentation. This treatment, so fashionable in social media, was named due to the mouth’s similar appearance to that of the matryoshkas, traditional Russian dolls.

Lip augmentation is a treatment that involves the injection of hyaluronic acid, a biocompatible substance which is adds volume to the labial mucosa, raising them by temporarily trapping water molecules. Due to its elasticity, we are able to sculpt or model the shape of the lips in a certain way, enhancing the cupid’s bow or emphasising certain qualities which make the lips more attractive.

Use of this molecule not only achieves a volumising effect but can also improve hydration, correct any asymmetry or soften a “gummy” smile etc.

“Aesthetic medicine should not be governed by trends, but by a safe and unfailing approach.”
      Dr. Natalia Cárdenas

Most concepts of lip beautification rely particularly on an increase in volume, full lips are understood to be more attractive, but the success of lip augmentation treatment is in providing just enough volume to draw the appropriate, desired attention.

Well-defined and full lips represent attractiveness and beauty. An excessive increase in volume will result in the patient looking like a caricature.

Lip augmentation treatment requires comprehensive planning. It is just as important to understand the patient’s concerns, as is it to know how to argue against treatment when not indicated.

Professional judgement is fundamental, but so is the correct choice of technique and hyaluronic acid product, which should always be of the highest quality.

The procedure is described as reversible as there is actually an antidote for hyaluronic acid, however, this should not be considered an antidote for an unwanted aesthetic result, its use should be reserved for prevention of medical complications when required. The antidote is a rescue tool, not part of treatment, as its application is also not risk-free or without side effects.

The aim of all lip treatments is not the same

In younger patients, some treatments seek to increase volume, but there are also lip treatments indicated for patients who are already showing signs of ageing around the mouth, such as bar code wrinkles, etc.. In these cases, volume is often not the objective, instead the aim is to restore the area and above all reverse the passage of time, delivering the most natural result possible. In these cases, I explain to my patients, that “we will improve the appearance of the lips, without treating the lips.”

Success lies in the selection of the appropriate type of hyaluronic acid and infiltration of the correct amount into the appropriate lip area.
      Dr. Natalia Cárdenas

To achieve a harmonious result, a facial study is essential, considering not only the aesthetic appearance around the mouth, but also its proportion in relation to other elements of the face, without losing sight of functionality, as lips express emotion, sensuality and vitality.

The patient’s anatomy must be respected, using subtle changes to create a long-term, positive aesthetic effect.
